Rick Nelson

Director of Client Services

Rick began his career with Pioneer Bank in Chattanooga in 1987 as a management trainee. He was part of the group that formed the bank in 2006, and he believes CapitalMark is set apart by its unique operating model and the unrelenting focus on meeting the client’s needs. He and Karen, also a former Pioneer banker, have worked together since the bank opened its doors. Rick appreciates Karen’s experience, ability and willingness to go the distance to take care of their clients. Outside the bank, Rick is continually challenged with the schedules and activities of his three children.

Karen has worked in banking since 1994 and counts herself lucky to have been part of the CapitalMark team at inception – an experience which provided her a unique vantage point for banking. She enjoys working directly with clients and helping them with their variety of financial needs. For Karen, CapitalMark is differentiated by a company-wide focus on “going the extra mile” for the client. Karen states that she and Rick have teamed so long they practically read each other’s thoughts, which makes for an especially seamless client experience. When the weather cooperates, Karen spends any free time working outdoors.
